Clif Bar recognizes that 40% of all urban travel is under two miles, a distance that can easily be covered on a bike. Even so, most people use some form of motorized transport. Their 2 Mile Challenge is an effort to get people to ride bikes instead. Bravo, Clif Bar!

“At the tail end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th, Thomas Edison filmed men doing bike tricks that seem surprisingly contemporary today. The description of this film at the Library of Congress reads: “‘Neidert,’ of national fame, does stunts on his wheel that are simply wonderful. Makes his bicycle rear up, and rides around the stage on his back wheel; besides a lot of other easy things, such as riding on one pedal and riding backward, seated on handlebar.”

The biggest problem with carbon fiber as a frame material is that it shatters. Steel can be bent back, aluminum can, well, be melted down into a new coke can, but carbon fiber is pretty much trash. Check out this video of a pro crashing his bike and it blowing apart into several pieces!

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to actually be a racer in arguably the world’s toughest single day mountain bike race? Well, you no longer need to as filmmaker Frank Matson takes us on a near first person assault of the The Leadville Trail 100 with his latest project, “Race Across the Sky”.
The Leadville Trail 100 is an annual up and back mountain bike race, which starts and finishes in Leadville, CO with a halfway point of the Columbine Mine Aid Station at 12,600 feet. In fact, this epic feat of both amateur and professional riding together, NEVER dips below 9,000 feet for all 100 grueling miles!
